Researching rugs, learned that New Zealand wool has a nearly-universal reputation as being among the finest materials one can find. After three months, I decided this beautiful Safavieh was the closest I could find to all my criteria, the construction material being among the most important. After all, the primary description fit: “This rug is made of Premium New Zealand Wool.” Perfect, right? And further down the listing, it states “Made from a blend of premium wool fibers for superb clarity of color”. Sounds perfect.Well, after getting it home, it seemed perfect. This is a gorgeous, thick, high-density, high-quality feeling bit of floor covering. Then my sister spilled the tiniest bit of coffee on it. Just a drop. No problem, right?i attempted to gently blot up the coffee, snd the oddest thing happened. Part of that little drop of coffee happened to fall next to one of those fun little “streaks” that decorate the rug. And as I was blotting, that fun little streak magically turned into a stiff, hardened “gutter”, as if the nap had been stuck together with Elmer’s glue. And, to add eyesore to injury, it turned a generic shade of light brown.Turns out, I should have read every last word in the description. Down, all the way down, at the bottom of the last part of the tail-end of the afterthought of the description is the horrible truth. This rug is only 80% wool. It’s also 20% viscose, a material my research said to avoid like the plague. It mystifies me why anyone would contaminate this lovely product with this fragile, temperamental garbage, but there it is.So...not sure what to do with this rug...more of a ticking time-bomb waiting for any liquid whatsoever to get near it...but I hope this helps someone out there avoid my mistake.P.S. It’s also utterly impossible to keep clean, but you knew that already, right?Has a yellow tinge to it, so I was pretty disappointed as I wanted a pure white rug. The quality is amazing. It's super heavy and thick. It's definitely pretty modern and I wouldn't recommend unless you don't mind a yellow tint.Nice thick, high quality rug. Great addition to our bathroom.Has a great look to it for the price - needs vacuming daily as it is so light but comes up nice.
