I put this product to use yesterday. I bought a small 3-tiered wire shelf for my bathroom a few months ago which has really helped with clutter in other areas of my bathroom. The only down side has been that smaller items such as my lotion pump and a couple of toothbrush holders that actually have other things in them, often do not stay upright on the metal shelf. I have also on two occasions dumped my plastic jar with cotton swabs and dumped them all over the floor which then I needed to dispose of because they were contaminated. Had I had this vanity tray before, this would not have happened. A couple of months ago I had my eye on another vanity tray with a cobalt blue bottom that I saw on Lowe's and Home Depot's website. However, the item was out of stock at both places and I still hadn't gotten notice of them coming in stock. The main difference between this one I bought and those were that the sides of the other one were slanted outward. I decided on this one because the printing on the side was not circles as many of the other ones I have looked at which I don't like. The other thing is the pattern on the sides looks a lot like starfish and I have coastal/nautical themed decorative items throughout my house. While slanted sides are probably sufficient in keeping items on it contained, I now realize that the straight sides on this vanity tray help me use the space on my shelf more efficiently and I still have room for the two holders that I have other items needed for hair care. The vanity tray only extends an inch or two beyond the outside of my shelf and fits everything I need. The color of the tray, which I never really thought of that much when choosing, matches perfectly with my shelf. The tray seems very sturdy. In order to protect the mirror, I placed some thin opaque plastic on the bottom to protect it from scratching or chipping since I have so many items in it. I am extremely pleased with this product as it is functional, fits my decor and is just pleasing to look at. I couldn't be more happy.
